Ford Dealer Sends Facebook Sleuths After Fake Check Writer

Best Ford of Nashua (N.H.)’s Facebook followers quickly tracked down a customer suspected of using a fake check to steal a $50,000 truck, according to an Automotive News report.
GM Mike Frassica said the suspect, Ryan Duval, interacted with the dealership and its followers on Facebook even as they — and the police — attempted to locate him by posting his photo and a scan of the fake check. The promise of a $1,000 reward and a $1,000 donation to the Nashua Police Department helped the story gain traction.
“Facebook positively played a role,” Frassica told AN. “However, it was the police that ultimately found him and the vehicle.”
