Honda Plans to Double EV Range with Solid-State Batteries

According to Honda’s head of research, Keiji Otsu, the newest development in automotive battery technology, the solid-state battery, could double EV driving range by the end of the decade.
Solid-state batteries, which will replace liquid-state lithium-ion batteries, are expected double the driving range of EVs within the next five years, and could even get to 2.5 times more than current driving-ranges by the 2040s.
Honda will start introducing the pilot line in January. Their goal will be to reduce battery size by 50%, weight by 35% and cost by 25% from current levels in the next half decade, Otsu told Reuters.
