Trump Picks Sean Duffy to Be Transportation Secretary

Nov. 19, 2024 | |

President-elect Donald Trump announced he will nominate Sean Duffy to lead the U.S. Department of Transportation, succeeding Biden administration appointee Pete Buttigieg. If confirmed, the former congressman and Fox host would likely be tasked with reversing the Biden administration’s EV-friendly emissions rules.

Other decisions facing the agency pertain to road safety, including autonomous vehicles, a range of issues facing the aviation and major airlines and a plan to spend the remainder of a $1 billion-plus infrastructure bill that passed in 2021.

“Thank you, Mr. President,” Duffy wrote on X. “I’m eager to help you usher in a new golden age of transportation.”
