Mazda Recalls CX-90 and CX-70 SUVs for Software Issues

Nov. 14, 2024 | |

Mazda has announced a recall of select 2024 and 2025 CX-90 and CX-70 SUVs due to multiple software issues that may affect the vehicles’ drivetrain and other systems. Mazda reported the issue to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Oct. 31.

One issue specifically relates to the dashboard’s electrical supply unit, where the plug-in hybrid vehicles’ defroster, seatbelt warning, 360-degree camera system, and the battery’s high-voltage cooling system might not work upon starting the car.

Approximately 80,915 vehicles were affected by this issue, with Mazda recommending immediate dealer visits for a free software update to correct the issue.

Another, more serious issue, affects 30,488 models and relates to a software issue that could potentially cause a loss of drive power. The issue will be covered under warranty and Mazda has advised that affected vehicle owners will be notified by the end of the year and will need to visit a dealership to have their vehicles reprogrammed.
