Md. Acura Dealer Sues Factory Over Undriveable EV

An ongoing dispute between Honda and Criswell Acura of Annapolis, Md., has escalated with the filing of a lawsuit against the factory, seeking to recoup losses from a 2024 Acura ZDX that failed at 400 miles, according to CarScoops and other outlets.

The fully electric SUV was purchased by the dealer last May for $69,207, then sold to a Criswell customer who reported the ZDX stopped charging once the odometer hit 400 miles. An odyssey that includes a replacement battery, a faulty rear wheel sensor and a persistent mystery ensued.

“Criswell Acura claims that subsequent ‘requests for assistance from Honda have been virtually ignored,’” writes CarScoops’ Brad Anderson. “Nearly eight months later, the ZDX remains at the dealership, still undriveable. While the exact cause of the issues remains unknown, the dealer suspects the problems stem from the ‘result of bad design, manufacturer’s defect, installation or pre-delivery damage.’”
