Tesla Could Reverse Sales Slide After Setting New Record in Q2
Tesla Inc. reported the delivery of 480,126 new units worldwide in the second quarter, a new quarterly record that puts the Austin, Texas-based EV maker on track to reverse a two-year streak of declining sales.
A longer-wheelbase, three-row version of the top-selling Model Y made its U.S. debut last week after selling well in China and Europe. More than one-third of all new Teslas are sold stateside, led by the Model Y, the Model 3 and the smaller-volume Model S, Model X and Cybertruck.
Tesla’s directors have led a yearslong, state-by-state campaign to avoid establishing a franchised dealership network. In April, its legal team asked a court in North Dakota to declare that Tesla is not a manufacturer based on their interpretation of a provision of state law.
