Group 1 Acquires Hennessy’s 10-Store Atlanta Portfolio for $1.3 Billion

Group 1 Automotive will acquire all 10 of Hennessy Automobile Companies’ Atlanta-area dealerships in a $1.3 billion deal. The highline-heavy collection includes Porsche North Atlanta and Porsche Atlanta Northwest as well as Cadillac, Jaguar, Land Rover and Lexus franchises.
In a release, Group 1 executives say the acquisition is expected to generate approximately $1.7 billion in annualized revenue. The deal expands the Houston-based dealer group’s Atlanta presence from three to 15 rooftops, making the city its second-largest market by revenue.
“Our cluster strategy has long focused on premium brands in attractive growth markets with high-revenue rooftops where we can leverage scale and expand margins,” writes Daryl Kenningham, president and CEO of Group 1 Automotive. “Building on a strategy we have executed successfully across our largest markets, including Houston and Boston, this acquisition significantly expands our presence in the growing Atlanta market.”
“For 62 years, our family company has been a cornerstone of the Atlanta automotive community,” writes Peter Hennessy. “Under Group 1’s stewardship, I know this strong legacy and deep commitment to Atlanta will continue.”
Kerrigan Advisors is representing Hennessy in the deal, which is expected to close by year-end 2026, subject to regulatory and OEM approvals. Kerrigan’s latest Blue Sky Report charts record buy-sell activity in Q1
