Jaguar I-Pace EV Recalled for Fire Risk

Jaguar has issued a recall for its I-Pace electric SUV following reports of battery overheating that could lead to fires. Jaguar is also asking owners of the affected vehicles to park outdoors and away from any physical structures.
Approximately 3,000 vehicles are affected by this recall, and Jaguar has not yet found a fix for the problem, according to an Associated Press report. However, as a temporary solution, Jaguar dealers can update the battery control to limit charging to 80%, lowering the risk of fire.
“Owners who have previously had their vehicle updated with the improved diagnostic software are under the impression that their vehicle is protected from thermal overload which, for 2019-MY vehicles, may not be the case,” factory officials said in documents posted Thursday.
