Each of the U.S.-sold OEMs reporting sales to the Automotive News Data Center says volumes were up in October, building on momentum gained in September, which provided a strong finish to a somewhat sluggish third quarter.

Mazda leads all factories with a 25% year-over-year improvement after topping the leaderboard with a 31.9% gain a month ago. Kia sales are up 16%, outpacing Korean stablemate Hyundai (3.8%) as well as Honda (8%), Toyota (6.5%) and Subaru (6%).

“Across the Toyota and Lexus brands, the automaker’s electrified vehicle sales rose 35 percent to 126,054, or 57 percent of all volume,” writes AN’s David Phillips, noting that multiple factories benefited from strong EV and hybrid sales.

Ford is expected to share October numbers this week; other manufacturers, including General Motors and Stellantis, report on a quarterly basis. Phillips’s report also includes the latest incentive spending figures and year-end sales forecasts.
