Single Ford Recall Dominates Q1 Report

BizzyCar’s Q1 2026 Recall Report finds 4.3 million Ford units affected by an electrical system issue accounted for nearly 40% of all notices, part of a trend toward larger campaigns that touch multiple models and production cycles.

“What we’re seeing is a shift in how recalls show up in the market,” writes BizzyCar CEO Ryan Maher in a release. “There are thousands of vehicles with open recalls sitting in dealer databases today. When dealers can identify those vehicles and act on them quickly, it improves completion rates and gets more unsafe vehicles off the road.”

Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Chrysler and Nissan built 92% of units recalled in the first quarter, with electrical (47%) and back-over prevention (20%) systems accounting for more than two-thirds of recalls.

Analysts note roughly half of all recalls were eligible for over-the-air updates — a significant increase — but that metric was driven by the same Ford campaign that dominated the quarter.
