Dealers, Fleets Brace for Massive Ram ProMaster Recall

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued “Do Not Drive” and “Park Outside” advisories for nearly 300,000 Ram ProMaster vans due to a fire risk stemming from a cooling fan issue.
Stellantis engineers are still working on a solution to the problem, which was first identified in July and affects every unit built from July 20, 2017, to Oct. 7, 2025. Owner notifications are set to be mailed starting Nov. 20.
“Certain extremely demanding fleet duty cycles can cause premature bearing wear resulting in high current draw combined with inadequate fuse protection on the 400W fan circuit which may lead to a vehicle fire,” NHTSA’s report states.
