Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Order for Super Duty Trucks

Jun. 23, 2025 | |

Ford Motor Co. is working with U.S. dealers to contact the owners of 2,345 Super Duty pickups that should not be driven until a mobile inspector or dealership service technician can check their brake pedal assemblies for missing springs, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Predelivery inspections revealed two units were assembled without retaining springs. This could cause the brake booster pushrod to separate from the pedal at any moment, resulting in sudden loss of brake function. It is unclear at press time how many of the recalled units are actually missing their springs.

Factory and dealership personnel are asking owners of the affected F-250s, F-350s, F-450s and F-550s to await inspection or allow their vehicles to be towed to the nearest Ford dealership, where any missing springs can be installed.

The alert follows last week’s news that Honda Motor Co. will recall 259,000 U.S.-sold units, also due to the risk of a brake pedal assembly failure.
