Former Colo. Dealership Employee Arrested, Accused of Embezzling $182K

Valerie Drewlow, the former office manager at Greeley (Colo.) Nissan and Greeley Volkswagen, was arrested and faces charges of stealing $182,815 from the dealerships, according to the Greeley Tribune.
Tribune reporter Chris Bolin says law enforcement became involved after a forensic investigator was hired to track down a missing payment. The affidavit for her arrest states Drewlow concealed cash, manipulated business records and falsified deposits as part of the alleged embezzlement scheme.
“During a November meeting with police, one employee said Drewlow had given him envelopes containing cash on multiple occasions to deposit into her personal bank account. … Another employee told police in a December meeting that she had seen Drewlow with large amounts of cash ‘sticking out of her purse,’ according to the affidavit,” Bolin writes.
The State of Colorado classifies any theft of more than $2,000 as a felony. Drewlow was arrested in August and released on bail. She is expected to make her next court appearance in October.
