Musk to Prioritize Tesla Over DOGE Following Q1 Losses

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told investors he will reduce his role as a senior White House advisor to one or two days per week on a first quarter earnings call. The EV maker reported a 71% decline in net income, led by a 20% drop in automotive revenue.

On the call, as reported by CNBC and other outlets, Musk admitted political pressure from domestic and foreign opponents of President Donald Trump was hurting global sales. Musk donated more than $250 million to Trump’s campaign and joined the administration as a senior advisor in charge of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) shortly after Trump took office.

In March, Edmunds reported Americans were trading in Teslas in record numbers as protests and acts of vandalism at showrooms and charging stations mounted.

“The protests that you’ll see out there, they’re very organized,” Musk reportedly said on the earnings call.
