Polly: Dealer-Sold Insurance Boosted F&I Gross by 32% in Q2

Sep. 4, 2026 | |

Polly’s latest Quarterly Embedded Auto Insurance Report finds an average F&I gross boost of 32% — or $528 per transaction — per deal when customers purchase insurance at the dealership in the second quarter.

At the three top-performing stores tracked by Polly, selling insurance increased per-copy gross by 62% ($1,391), 46% ($644) and 39% ($707) in Q2. For all 216 dealerships included in the report, simply providing insurance quotes delivered a 20% ($322) improvement.

Remarkably, analysts note, adding insurance policy presentation to the F&I process resulted in a “virtually identical” transaction time.

“Insurance quoting shows no material impact on deal-closing speed and pairs with a $523 average lift in back-end gross per deal,” the report states. “For dealers weighing whether insurance slows down the sale, the data is clear: It doesn’t.”
