Q2 Report: Digital Contract Volume Up 63% Since 2022

Digital adoption in auto finance continued to broaden in the second quarter of 2026, with electronic contracting volume up 7% from Q1 and the four-year trend now showing 63% growth since Q1 2022, according to Wolters Kluwer Compliance Solutions’ Q2 Auto Finance Digital Transformation Index.
Analysts say growth was spread across captives, fintech finance sources and dealer-to-finance source connectivity platforms, not concentrated among a handful of early adopters.
“eContracting growth this quarter wasn’t limited to fintech disruptors or a handful of early movers; captives, established finance companies and dealer connectivity platform transaction facilitators all contributed meaningfully to the gains,” writes Wolters Kluwer strategist Matthew Babcock in a release. “As more issuers move from single transactions to repeat activity, digital documentation is proving itself to be core infrastructure for how auto finance gets funded, not a pilot program.”
The Q2 digital adoption results aligned with broader market strength, as June new-vehicle sales finished near a 16.5 million SAAR and the Dealertrack Credit Availability Index, which climbed to a 10-year high in June, loosened auto credit conditions through the quarter.
