Subaru Shines as Hybrids Fuel Encouraging June and Q2 Sales Reports

U.S. Subaru dealers sold nearly 59,000 new units in June, leading all manufacturers with an 18% year-over-year improvement in a month full of double-digit sales gains, according to the latest report from the Automotive News Data Center.
All factories that report on a monthly basis enjoyed increased sales in June. Subaru is trailed by Honda (16.9%) and Hyundai (11.3%); the smallest gain was registered by Toyota (10.1%).
Some manufacturers share sales volumes on a quarterly basis. Nissan (10%) and Stellantis (6%) reported year-over-year increases in Q2 while sales slowed for General Motors (-4.2%).
“The U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, which caused a sharp rise in oil and gasoline prices, is behind the latest jump in hybrid demand, analysts say,” writes AN’s John Phillips, citing Cox Automotive data. “Hybrid sales, dominated by Toyota and Honda, have increased more than 80% since 2023.”
Phillips’s report also includes the latest full-year sales forecast, factory incentive spending and new inventory data.
