Dealers Say AI Will Reduce Headcount

A Phyron survey of 500 U.S. auto dealers finds 87% believe AI will replace some staff members by 2030 and only 5% say AI will “never” fully take over some dealership roles. About half believe AI will sell vehicles fully autonomously by 2028.
The survey results are detailed and analyzed in “The 2030 Tipping Point,” a new ebook from Phyron, a global provider of AI-powered media. In his introduction, Phyron CEO Mattias Kellquist says AI is at the heart of “what happens online” for dealers.
“Let’s be clear. AI isn’t coming to the automotive industry, it’s already here,” Kellquist writes. “It’s quietly replacing hours of manual work with minutes of smart automation. It’s turning dusty inventory photos into slick video ads. And it’s helping sales teams spend less time on repetitive admin and more time connecting with customers online and in person.”
