Amazon’s Online Car ‘Dealership’ With Hyundai Goes Live

Amazon Autos is now live and in partnership with Hyundai dealers in 48 U.S. cities, allowing shoppers to buy a vehicle from the ecommerce giant for the first time. The announcement follows earlier news that the launch would be delayed until 2025 following complications arising from the CDK Global cyberattack.
The success of the new platform depends on Amazon’s ability to serve as an effective lead provider, argues transportation expert and The Verge reporter Andrew J. Hawkins.
“As such, Amazon needs to appeal to dealers almost as much as it does to car shoppers,” Hawkins wrote. “The company is making its pitch by arguing that it can offer ‘a new sales channel that connects them with millions of Amazon customers.’ And with over 310 million active users, Amazon certainly has the numbers to back it up.”
Amazon Autos also accepts trade-ins and is offering a $2,300 gift card to sold customers through Jan. 10, according to the report.
