Donoghue: Fleet-Facing Dealers Plug AI Into Sales Process

Commercial vehicle dealers attending Work Truck Solutions’ virtual Commercial Vehicle Business Summit tell Equipment Finance News’s Quinn Donoghue that AI is moving the needle at their stores by helping their sales teams work smarter and faster.

Among them is Peter Spitzer, commercial and fleet account manager of Ron DuPratt Ford of Dixon, Calif., who says AI adoption was a learning process, not a quick fix, generating mixed results at the outset.

“Now, however, the dealership has learned how to use AI to augment the skills and expertise of its sales team,” Donoghue writes.

In a recent DealerELITE post, VMS (fmr. EVAI) founder Ian Gardner notes a growing number of fleet managers are using AI in their daily work, creating an opportunity for proactive dealers.

“Fleet managers are already exploring AI for predictive maintenance, compliance monitoring and proactive scheduling,” Gardner writes. “These use cases align perfectly with dealership service capabilities.”
