Plug’s new Trade Desk app was designed to help dealers accurately and efficiently determine the trade-in value of electric vehicles produced by other manufacturers and generate market-rate wholesale offers.

Plug founder and CEO Jimmy Douglas, a former Tesla executive, said the tool was developed in response to demand from dealers who found EV valuation challenging.

“Limited dealer engagement in the used EV market has hindered competition and residual values,” Douglas writes in a release. “The uncertainties surrounding the evaluation of EVs’ longevity and capabilities pose significant barriers, especially for dealers with limited experience in this segment. We developed Trade Desk to offer dealers a swift and precise method to move and profit from EV trade-ins.”
