Shine & Drive Secures First Reinsurance CLP for Car Wash Program

Shine & Drive has secured a contractual liability policy (CLP) with LodeStar RE, a move the company believes makes it the first car wash membership program to obtain this class of underwriting coverage — and one that opens the product to dealership reinsurance structures for the first time.
In a release, executives say the LodeStar RE-issued CLP gives Shine & Drive full underwriting backing in all 50 states, allowing F&I directors to econtract, menu-package and remit the product alongside service contracts and other voluntary protection products. Dealers with reinsurance structures can now integrate Shine & Drive to capture backend underwriting profit.
“Partnering with LodeStar to issue a dedicated CLP gives our car wash membership program total underwriting backing,” says Glen Bracciodieta, vice president of sales and business development at Shine & Drive. “It legitimizes Shine & Drive within traditional dealership F&I and reinsurance ecosystems, removing financial and regulatory friction while guaranteeing that contractual obligations are fully insured.”
Bracciodieta notes securing the CLP became possible after Shine & Drive reached critical national scale spanning thousands of car wash locations — the actuarial track record insurers like LodeStar require before underwriting a new product category.
Shine & Drive recently published “What Is a Car Wash Program?”, an agent and dealer guide to car wash programs and how they contribute to F&I and retention.
